About

Welcome to my blog.

As you can guess from the URL, my name is Perry Nelson. I live in Knoxville, TN, where I moved from the Atlanta area in 1979. My home town is Stone Mountain, GA. I am retired after a career in consulting with two different consulting firms, both of which are no longer in existence, Behavioral Systems, Inc. in Atlanta and Vernine and Associates, Inc. in Knoxville. Joining Vernine and Associates was the reason for my moving to Knoxville in ’79.

I have been fascinated by computers since my introduction to them in 1982 and in particular with being online. For many years I was active on CompuServe and Bulletin Board Systems until the advent of the World Wide Web. Therefore, much of my blogging has to do with the things that I find of interest online.

I posted my first attempt at blogging on Father’s day in 2001 on a site I created at Tripod.com. But I’d say I really began blogging regularly for the first time on April 14, 2002 when I created an account on Blogger.com. On October 31, 2005, I shifted my blog to WordPress.com where I stayed until I decided to register http://perry-nelson.com and get a hosting account with Dreamhost.com in May of 2006.

I have two sons, Jeff who lives with his family in Lula, GA, and Mike who lives with his family here in Knoxville. Many of my posts will relate to what they or their family are doing.

Another of my passions is baseball, and I am an ardent fan of the Atlanta Braves.

As I think of other things that may be of interest to you, I’ll add more content to this page to help you get to know me better.
